Franklins Law continues to hold legal aid franchises in Family and Criminal Law.
Family Law
LEGAL AID IS AVAILABLE FOR:
- You require protection i.e. a Non-Molestation Order;
- You are a victim of domestic violence and can provide evidence;
- Care proceedings; or
- Help with mediation
Subject to evidence we can assist in divorce, finances and children matters.
Legal Aid is only available to clients who meet a financial assessment and the case warrants funding.
There is strict evidence required for legal aid. Why not arrange a fixed-fee appointment to discuss your case and the evidence required.
Legal Aid is free in care proceedings and is not subject to any assessment.
Criminal Law
Free representation for all clients interviewed under caution irrespective of means.
Magistrates Court legal aid is subject to financial eligibility and a test as to whether it is in the interest of justice for the accused to be represented. This test is generally met if there is a prospect of a custodial sentence, an issue of law or if the defendant is under 18 or suffering from disability.
In the Crown Court legal aid is always available but can be subject to payment of a contribution depending upon means.
